Senneh (also: Sanandadj) is the capital of the Iranian western province of Kurdistan (170 km east of Hamadan). Senneh carpets are known for their above-average fineness and high quality. The Senneh knot is one of the two main knotting systems of real oriental carpets, along with the so-called Turkish knot. The wool is usually of high quality, as is the case with this carpet. The subtle, central medallion is surrounded by a rich, elegant floral all-over motif. This carpet can be described as a successful masterpiece.
