Yasd (also: Yazd) is located in southeastern Iran and is the capital of the district of the same name. Yasd is a very important market town on the southern edge of the Kavir salt desert. The Yasd carpet is usually lavishly drawn and its advantages lie mostly in the image design and the skillful color composition. The pattern variation in this provenance is exceptionally rich and decorative. The knotting was done with the Persian knot (in comparison to the Turkish knot, which is also more common in Persian carpets).
