Gabbeh carpets are nomadic carpets from the southern Persian province of Fars. Many carpets called Gabbeh are simply cheap Indian reproductions. The real Gabbeh carpets are mostly woven by Ghashgai nomads. The characteristic of Gabbeh lies in the natural colors used and the sparing stylized geometric patterns, but often also simply drawn people, animals or flowers. Gabbeh carpets have been experiencing a strong (justified) renaissance for some time, which is mainly due to the return to naturalness.
